FINDING A DECENT cup of coffee can be difficult, but we as a nation have definitely made inroads over the past couple of years. Indeed, Dublin has become somewhat of a haven for coffee connoisseurs.

But what about the rest of the country? Well, it turns out that we’re doing pretty well there as well.

Here’s just some of what is on offer.

1. Idaho Café, Cork

Cork establishment known for making great coffee and sly jabs at the expense of Starbucks.

A new addition to Waterford, Arch Coffee serves 3fe coffee and a variety of homemade treats.

They know their stuff.

3. Panama Coffee, Louth

Passing through Dundalk? Stopping by Panama Coffee is a must for all java fans.

4. Harpers, Limerick

5. Filter, Cork

The guys behind Filter are passionate about coffee and serve 3fe, Badger and Dodo, and The Golden Bean. Combine that with the café’s relaxed, creative atmosphere and you’re on to a winner.

6. Urban Grind, Galway

A favourite among coffee aficionados in Galway, Urban Grind never disappoints.

7. Kaffeine, Waterford

Kaffeine occupies a tiny space on Waterford’s Michael Street and is perfect for people-watching or just quickly running in for a coffee to go. Either way, the coffee is A+.

8. The Roast House, Kerry

Located in Tralee, The Roast House prides itself on being “Kerry’s only coffee roastery”.

9. Suas Coffee House, Clare

This specialty coffee shop located in heart of Ennis was cited by The Irish Times as being one of the best in the country. Do it.

10. The Galway Roast, Galway

We’re going to go out on a limb and say it’s probably the best coffee in Tuam.

11. Stradbally Fayre, Laois

Popular amongst Electric Picnic revelers every year, Stradbally Fayre does a mean full Irish and lovelycoffees.

12. Finnbees Coffee House & Juice Bar, Wicklow

Just a stone’s throw away from the beach in Bray, Finnbees is a lively place to chill out and warm yourself up with a cuppa.

13. Established Coffee, Belfast

Located in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter, Established might just be the best coffee spot in the city. Its owner Mark won the Irish Aeropress Championships in 2013, so you know you’re in safe hands.
